Hanford.

Hanford is where JSC is licensed and based, and it is the town whose housing stock we know best. The blocks around Courthouse Square and the Civic Auditorium carry homes built between the 1900s and the 1930s, and those come with their own rules: lath and plaster that does not take a modern anchor, original single pane windows, knob and tube that has been patched rather than replaced, and floor framing that was never sized for a stone countertop or a cast iron tub.

The postwar and 1970s tracts out toward Lacey and 12th Avenue are a different job entirely. Slab on grade, low pitched roofs, load bearing walls in predictable places, and kitchens laid out for a household that cooked differently than yours does. Opening one of those up is usually straightforward once the plumbing in the slab has been located properly.

Every JSC job in Hanford is permitted through the City of Hanford Building Division and built to the current California Building Standards Code, including the Title 24 energy requirements that catch most homeowners by surprise when they replace windows or add conditioned space.
